then remove plug from wall outlet.

This appliance is intended for household use only.
WARNING! Shock Hazard: This appliance has a polarized plug
(one wide blade) that reduces the risk of electric shock. The
plug fits only one way into a polarized outlet. Do not defeat
the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any
way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into
the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an

The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected
to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over
a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved

How to make coffee
1. Wash unit before first use. See “Care and cleaning.”
2. Place filter basket in filter basket well. Insert thumb
handle in the left opening.Ensure filter basket is fully
seated.
3. Place OPTIONAL water filter and water filter base into
water reservoir (see “Optional accessories”).
4. For each cup of coffee being made, place one level
tablespoon of coffee into filter. Use a #4 cone-style
paper filter. Fold filter at the crimp for proper placement.
If filter not folded at crimp, it may collapse or an
overflow may occur.
5. Fill carafe with the desired amount of cold tap water.
6. Pour water from carafe into reservoir.
NOTE: Do not fill past the 12-cup mark.
7. Place carafe, with carafe lid attached, on keep-hot plate.
8. Close lid. Press firmly on lid to ensure that it is
completely closed.
9. Turn switch to ON ( ). A lighted switch indicates that theI
coffeemaker is on. Turn switch to OFF ( ) and unplugO
when finished.

Features
P ause ’N Serve
This feature allows you to pour a cup of coffee before the
entire brew cycle has completed. By removing the carafe,
the flow of coffee will temporarily stop. The flow of coffee
will resume when carafe is returned to the keep-hot plate.
W ARNING! Burn Hazard: Do not remove carafe more than
20 seconds or filter basket may overflow.
A utomatic Shutoff (ONLY on models with a digital
clock timer)
The Automatic Shutoff feature shuts off the keep-hot plate
two hours after brew cycle begins.Always turn coffeemaker
O FF ( ) and unplug when finished.O

la cafetière. Aucune pièce réparable à l’intérieur. Les
réparations doivent être faites par un technicien agréé

Préparation du café
Burn Hazard.
To avoid hot coffee overflowing from the filter basket:
• When using decaffeinated coffee, do not exceed the
coffee manufacturer’s recommended serving amount.
• Press firmly on lid to ensure the lid is completely closed.
If filter basket overflow occurs, unplug coffeemaker and allow
coffee in filter basket to cool before removing filter basket.
wWARNING
1. Avant la première utilisation, lavez la cafetière puis
n ettoyez l’intérieur de l’appareil. Reportez-vous à la
section « Entretien et nettoyage ».
2. Placer le panier-filtre dans le puits du panier-filtre. Insérer
le repose-pouce dans l’ouverture gauche. S’assurer que
le panier-filtre est bien en place.
3. Déposer le filtre à eau en OPTION et la base du filtre à
eau dans le réservoir d’eau (voir « Accessoires en option »).
4. Pour chaque tasse de café à préparer, mettre une cuiller
à soupe rase de café dans le filtre. Utiliser un filtre en
p apier conique n° 4. Plier le filtre le long du pli pour le
placer correctement. Si le filtre n’est pas plié le long du
pli, il pourra s’affaisser ou provoquer un débordement.
5. Mettre la quantité désirée d’eau froide du robinet dans
la verseuse.
6. Verser l’eau de la verseuse dans le réservoir.
REMARQUE : Ne pas remplir au-delà de la marque de
12 tasses (3 L).
7. Placer la verseuse munie de son couvercle sur la plaque
chauffante.
8. Fermer le couvercle. Appuyer fermement sur le couvercle
pour s’assurer qu’il est bien fermé.
9. Mettre l’interrupteur à MARCHE (I). Un interrupteur allumé
indique que la cafetière est en marche. Mettre
l’interrupteur à ARRÊT (O) et débrancher la cafetière après
avoir terminé.
REMARQUE : L’illustration fait référence aux composants
principaux pour toutes les cafetières couvertes par ces
instructions.
Risque de brûlure.
Pour éviter le débordement de café chaud du panier-filtre :
• Lors de l’utilisation d’un café décaféiné, ne dépassez pas

To set clock:
1. Plug in coffeemaker. Numbers on clock will flash until
you set time of day.
2. To set time of day, press (hour) button to set currentH
hour. AM or PM will be displayed.
3. Press (minute) button until you reach the current time.M

T o set and use Automatic Brew:
1. Make sure clock is set for correct time of day.
2 .Fill coffeemaker with desired amount of water and
coffee. Place carafe with lid on keep-hot plate.
3. Press and hold PROG for more than 1 second. When
the display changes to 19:99, use the and buttonsH M
to change to the desired time.
4. Once desired brewing time has been reached, release
PROG and current time is displayed.
5. Momentarily press PROG to set coffeemaker to come on
automatically at the desired time.
6 . An illuminated green light to the left of the buttonPROG
and the word “AUTO” in the top-left corner of the display
indicate that the brew cycle will begin at the set time.
7. Momentarily press the PROG button again to cancel
automatic brew.
• When using a paper filter, always use a good-quality,
# 4 cone filter to obtain the best possible results.
• Take care not to spill loose coffee grounds between filter
and filter basket.
• Make sure filter basket is securely in place.
• The carafe lid must be properly attached to carafe.
• The carafe must be placed properly and level on
keep-hot plate before starting brew cycle.
•When using the Pause ’N Serve feature, replace carafe
w ithin 20 seconds to prevent overflow of coffee grounds
and water from filter basket.
WARNING! Burn Hazard: Return carafe to keep-hot plate
within 20 seconds. Hot water continues to flow into the
brew basket when this feature is used. Overflowing coffee
and hot water are a burn hazard.
U sage tips
How to use the water filter
(optional accessory on select models)
1. Before first use, soak water filter in cold tap water for
15 minutes. Then rinse under cold running tap water for
15 seconds.
2. Insert filter in base. Snap lid onto base. Set your
replacement month by aligning arrow with the month
you expect will represent 60 brew cycles.
3. Using the water filter lid (or handle), place filter and filter
base in water reservoir. The water filter base should fit
snuggly in a specially designed well at the bottom of the
water reservoir.
4. Replace after 60 brewing cycles. Refer to the month
indicator to know when to replace your filter.
5. To replace, pull up on lid of filter holder while holding filter
base; turn filter base to allow filter to drop out.

T o clean carafe and filter basket:
Wash carafe by hand in hot, soapy water or in top rack of
dishwasher.To remove carafe lid, push hinge part of lid to
one side and then gently but firmly twist lid.The pin will
release from hinge. To replace lid, put one side of lid hinge
on one of pins and then snap onto other pin.
To remove filter basket, open lid and lift straight up. Filter
basket may be washed by hand or in top rack of dishwasher.
C arafe safety precautions
This symbol reminds you that glass is fragile and can
break which could result in personal injury.
This symbol alerts you to the potential danger for
personal injury if you fail to read and follow these
safety precautions.
• Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or
weakened handle.
• This carafe is designed to be used only on the keep-hot plate
of your coffeemaker. Do not use on a gas or electric rangetop,
or in a microwave or conventional oven.
• To avoid breakage,handle carafe with care. Avoid impact.
Glass will break as a result of impact. Use care when filling
with water to avoid hitting faucet.
• Do not place hot carafe on cool or wet surface. Allow to cool
before washing or adding liquids.
• Do not set empty carafe on a hot heating surface.
• Do not clean with steel wool pads, abrasive cleanser, or any
other materials that may scratch.
• Do not place hands inside carafe. When handling, be careful
if wearing any hand jewelry, especially diamond rings.
Jewelry can scratch the glass, which increases possibility
of breakage.
• Do not bump, scratch, or boil dry.
• Discard carafe if it is cracked, scratched, or heated while
e mpty for an extended period of time.
• To avoid accidents, do not pour in the direction of people.
• If stirring in the carafe, use only wooden, plastic, or rubber
utensils. Do not use metal utensils.
• Follow the above safety precautions carefully to avoid serious
burn injuries which may result if breakage occurs while
carafe holds heated liquids.
Care and cleaning
All coffeemakers should be cleaned at least once a month
(once a week for areas with hard water).
To clean the inside of the coffeemaker:
1. Remove water filter (optional) and water filter base (see
“How to use the water filter”).
2. Place empty carafe on keep-hot plate. Close empty filter
basket.
3. Pour one pint of plain white vinegar into the water
reservoir.
4. Plug unit into electrical outlet and turn ON ( ).I
5. After 30 seconds, turn OFF ( ).O
6. Wait 30 minutes to allow the vinegar to clean. Then turn
ON again.When the brew cycle is finished, turn OFF (O).
7. Empty carafe and rinse. Pour one carafe of cold tap
water into the water reservoir. Place carafe on
keep-hot plate.
8. Turn ON ( ).When the brew cycle is finished,empty theI
carafe. Repeat this process with one more carafe of cold
tap water.
9. Turn OFF ( ) when complete.O
10. Wash carafe and filter basket before making a
beverage.

Pause et service
Cette caractéristique vous permet de verser une tasse de
café avant l’achèvement du cycle d’infusion complet. Retirer
la verseuse interrompt momentanément l’écoulement du
café. L’écoulement continue une fois la verseuse replacée sur
la plaque chauffante.
AVERTISSEMENT ! Risque de brûlure. Ne pas retirer la
verseuse plus de 20 secondes sinon le panier-filtre risque
de déborder.

avec minuterie numérique)
L’option Arrêt automatique arrête la plaque chauffante 2 heures
après que le cycle d’infusion a commencé. Éteignez toujours
