Die Ausführung G war die meistproduzierte Variante der

Pzkpfw V „Panther“ und löste die Ausführung A ab 1944 in

der Herstellung ab. Das Fahrgestell war günstiger gestaltet

worden und weitere Verbesserungen flossen kontinuierlich in

die Produktion ein. Fahrzeuge der Abschlussversion wiesen u.a.

ein geändertes Motordeck und eine formgeänderte Walzen -

blende auf. Mit seiner 7,5cm Kampfwagenkanone 42L/70 und

geschossabweisenden Formen erwies sich der Panther als ge -

fähr licher Gegner. Der V-12-Zylinder Maybach HL 230P30

Otto motor mit 700 PS Höchstleistung ermöglichte dem 44.800

kg schweren Panther Ausf. G eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von

bis zu 55 km/h. Die Besatzung bestand aus fünf Mann.

The G version was the variant of the Pzkpfw V „Panther“ bat-

tle tank produced in greatest numbers and it superseded the

A version from 1944 onwards. The chassis was of a better

design and further improvements were continually incorporat-

ed in production. The final version of the tank had an altered

engine deck and the shape of the cylindrical mount mantlet

was different. With its 7,5 cm 42 L/70 cannon and missile

deflecting shape the Panther proved to be a dangerous oppo-

nent. The V 12 cylinder Maybach HL 230P30 petrol engine

with a maximum capacity of 700 HP gave the 44,800 kg heavy

Panther G a maximum speed of 55 km/h. It had a crew of five.
