INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ESCORT PASSPORT MAX RADAR DETECTOR

1 - The RELEASE Button on the radar detector (RD) is NOT used with this mount.

the mount together. This will lower the bottom portion

the spring clip allowing you to

. When used properly, the spring clip avoids putting excessive

pressure on the mirror stem when installing and removing the RD. The top portion

the mount should barely move when the two opposing forces are applied.

2 - The

THE SPRING CLIP

FAR AS IT WILL GO. Release the

trigger to secure the RD onto the mount. Before installing the

mount onto your rear view mirror, remove and install the RD a

few times so you can observe how the spring clip functions.

3 - This photo illustrates how the Hook fits into the recessed

area behind the mirror. This is just a reference photo as you

will not be able to see this during installation.

4 - The two rotating adjustemnt screws can be used to move

the rotating adjustment plate left/right horizontally to point the

radar detector in a desired direction. The two clamp screws are

used to secure the mount onto the mirror as shown next in fig 5.

5 - Place the Windshield Pad onto the Silicone Pad. Position the mount

as shown above. Compress the Silicone Pad into the Windshield Pad as

you slide upwards into the recessed area behind the mirror.

You

will

hear the Hook snap into place when it is positioned correctly. Tighten

both clamp screws to secure hook and mount onto mirror.

6 • Install the RD onto the mount. Make the neces-

sary adjustments as shown above. After all adjust-

ments are made, be sure to check that the hinge

pivot and vertical adjustment screws are tight. Grab

the long arm

the allen wrench to assure that these

screws are securely tightened. You will not strip out

the tapped holes in the aircraft grade aluminum.

7 •

access the buttons

the RD you

will need to gently push downward on the

front

the RD with one finger and push

the desired button with another finger.

Then allow the RD to return to it's original

position by gently letting it spring upward.

When accessing the buttons, be sure to

push the RD downward just enough for

your finger to fit between the RD and

mirror. Do not pu h down more than

what is needed.

8 - You

may

want to install the 3/4" diameter

Support Pad between the mirror and the RD

for additional stability. There are three differ-

ent thicknesses included depending on the

gap between the RD and the mirror after all

adjustments are made. Use the supplied

alcohol pad to clean the top

the RD before

9 - When removing

installing the RD, squeeze the trigger and the back side

the mount together with one hand, and lift the front

the RD upward with

the other hand before sliding the RD off

onto the spring clip. You must

lift

the front

the RD upward before sliding it

off

or onto the mount.

NOTE : This mount can get extremely hot when sitting in direct sunlight.

you intend to remove your RD frequently, you may want to install the two gray

"TOUCH STRIPS" included in the tool kit. Place them where your fingers make contact with the mount. They may be trimmed with a blade

knife.
